In this blog, we'll take you through the step-by-step process of using Angelus paint at Insdrip Studio to create your own hand-painted custom shoes.
Clean the canvas surface using a cleaning product like the Angelus Easy Cleaner Kit to remove oils and dirt.
Make sure the canvas is adequately dry and free of cleaner residue.
Optionally, mix 2-Soft with Angelus paint to reduce the rubbery texture on canvas surfaces, giving a more natural feel to your designs.
Apply 3-5 light layers of Angelus Paint, with 15-30 minutes of drying time between layers. Remember that neon colors require a similar shade base.
No additional protection is usually needed as the paint soaks into the canvas. However, for a matte or glossy finish, consider using the 4-Coat Clear Coat.
For patent leather, wiping it down with leather preparer and sanding it with Angelus high grit (800,1500) is recommended for better adhesion.
Wipe down the leather again with a microfiber cloth to ensure lint and debris are removed.
Optionally, use an adhesion promoter made for vinyl/plastic materials for enhanced adhesion.
Apply 3-5 light layers of Angelus Paint with 15-30 minutes of drying time between layers (neon colors still require a similar shade base).
For very glossy patent leather, consider airbrushing for a smoother finish. Alternatively, use a heat gun to level the layers, being cautious not to overheat.
To restore the patent shine, apply Angelus 4-Coat High Gloss with multiple layers.
Leave the shoes to dry in an area free from lint or floating debris.
